REIMAGINING THE PAST
For the National Home Show, I created a series of mixed-media artworks using archival black-and-white photographs from shows spanning more than 70 years. Instead of preserving them quietly, I chose to engage with them by re-printing them on a large scale, painting, drawing, and layering colour directly onto the images using my signature palette from the show: pink-red tulip, chartreuse, and teal blue. By working backwards through the show’s history, I was able to honour the legacy of this beloved Canadian institution while reimagining it through my own creative lens. The pieces turn history into art, celebrating the past while inviting it forward into a bold, colourful future.
